Heavy Duty Right Angled Fork Hoe

The heavy duty Canterbury fork hoe from Chillington is a right angled garden fork hoe also known as a right angled fork azada. It comes with the 47 inch timber handle included at no extra cost. While the regular chillington fork hoe was designed for working the soil on raised beds and general garden work, the heavy duty model was designed for heavier digging. Chillington Hoes are made from hot forged carbon steel and have been a gardeners favourite tool for over one hundred years. Their Crocodile brand is one of the most recognisable in garden tools.

The head is a three pronged fork that is ideal for breaking hard ground, it forms a right angle with the included strong timber handle  that makes digging large areas so much easier. Rather than hard digging with a spade, the fork hoe works on a lever action, requiring less effort and energy on your part.

Chillington Hoes are made from hot forged carbon steel and have been a gardeners favourite tool for over one hundred years. Remember these are not fancy pants new modern tools so the handles are rough and ready but they do the job really well and will last until the next generation.

Very simple effective tool. Saves your back tremendously, is very powerful and clears overgrown allotment with a passion. I love this tool. The only thing I don’t like is that I’m running out of land to use this on. I really enjoy putting manners n my plot that I have neglected

We use this as a fork in heavier and often stoney ground. It very quick to use and very easy on "the back". In fact it is very quick to use (productive) with reduced back strain.

I'm using this fork to start a new garden from scratch. So lots of digging and clearing, it has been a huge help removing stones from the plot. Probably better if I got the longer handle but hopefully once I get it cleared I can easily maintain it.

Hello, I already have one of the heavy azadas which I find is brilliant for digging with but it can be a struggle on some overgrown areas with weeds as there is sometimes too much greenery for it to cut through (clearing an abandoned allotment). I think one of the right angled forks would be ideal as it will get past the weeds easier. I'm not sure though whether the lighter one with the longer handle would be better or whether to go for the heavier one (which comes with the standard handle I think?). The plot is in London so the soil is clay and I would want to use it on the raised beds we have as well. Which would you recommend? Thanks Paul

Hi Paul We sell an lot more of the standard fork than the large one. The main reason for this is that the standard size is easier to work with yet is strong enough to break through soil that has a lot of roots in it. That said it is kind of a personal choice really. The larger one will cover more ground when working however is harder work Regards Niall Quickcrop

I have heavy clay soil and am wondering if the heavy duty right angle fork may be better suited to it than the smaller version, for general soil cultivation/preparation. What do you think?

the smaller one will still cut through it no bother, it is a really strong hoe that is good for nearly all soil types.
