Protect vegetables from the carrot fly and other pests with the Micromesh pest and wind barrier.  The tightly woven mesh comes complete with bamboo canes for support posts. Micromesh offers the best wind protection as well and acts as a wind barrier for young or less established plants. It will also keep cats and dogs off your crops and gives great protection from a major garden enemy, the wind. Wind can be very damaging to growing plants especially strong gusts. This micro mesh helps stop light winds that you encounter in gardens but still allows plenty of life giving light to those growing vegetables and other garden plants. Prevent Carrot Fly & Other Pests With Micro-Mesh

Carrot fly mesh - ‚Ä®Super little net particularly useful as protection against the scourge of carrot fly and insects as well as larger pests such as cats and dogs. The adult fly doesn’t fly higher than about 2ft so this portable screen offers significant protection against this very common garden pest. It is a perfect insect barrier stopping many different insects as well as the dreaded carrot fly that may set up home and invade your plants.


Also a very helpful barrier against wind. Wind can be very damaging to growing plants especially strong gusts. This micro mesh helps stop light winds that you encounter in gardens but still allows plenty of life giving light to those growing vegetables and other garden plants.

Carrot root fly is the most common pest affecting carrots and parsnips and other related plants like parsley and celery. The carrot fly is a small black fly which lays its eggs in May-June or August September around the base of the carrot. When the eggs hatch the maggots tunnel into the roots making them unusable and finally causing them to rot. The maggots will enter the whole root vegetable and leave it full of holes  allowing bacteria and other organisms to enter and spread throughout the vegetable making it totally unusable for anything. If caught in it's very early stages, the affected parts of the vegetable may be able to be cut away and the rest used if only for animal feeding.

The carrot fly is attracted by the smell of the foliage which is particularly strong when you thin carrot seedlings. It is a good idea to try to sow your carrots as close as you can to the required spacings to avoid thinning as much as possible. You will have to do some thinning but try to do this on a windy day so the smell of the bruised foliage is carried away. Make sure not to leave thinnings near the plants but dispose of them away from the vegetable garden.

Even checking these vegetables has to be done with care as too much disturbance of the foliage or the soil around the vegetable can release the scent into the air attracting these pests. So the only way is to form a protective barrier around the vegetables to protect them, which will then allow you to work around your growing carrots with confidence that you aren't endangering your crop. The planting of strong smelling masking plants like onion and chives around your carrot beds is also a very good tried and tested idea, and other companion planting like surrounding your vegetable plots with Marigolds and similar plants which will attract Hover flies that will attack and eat any pest species that are attracted to your vegetables is also recommended. 

When growing vegetables or just general gardening you’ll find insects feeding on your plants will be one of your biggest headaches. Not only do they damage the plants but also cause secondary problems like introducing disease and making your crops more susceptible to rot.  It is a constant battle and large amounts of expensive chemicals are used by gardeners and farmers to control the carrot fly and other insect pest problems. Preventing pests from attacking is far better than trying to kill the pests after they have attacked your plants. By using this micro mesh you are saving many times over because you may not need chemicals and this mesh can be used over and over again.  This means it is healthier for you, your pocket and the environment.

By using a 3 pronged approach of scent masking plants, pest predator attracting plants and pest barrier systems such as this micro mesh, then your growing carrots and other vegetables could be fairly safe from insect pests without the use of chemicals.

We live in the country and rabbits are our biggest enemy. Will this protect against those determined herbivores?

Hi Tom. Yes it will provided you have it buried in to the ground around the edges. There is no way that Rabbits can get through this netting even if they tried. However getting under it might be your issue. There is also a great product for keeping them off called Graziers. Have a look at this.

How long does delivery take?
Stock permitting we aim to dispatch your goods within 1 - 2 working days of receiving your order. The average time taken from order to delivery is 3 - 4 days in the UK and Ireland, and up to 6/7 working days for France, Germany and the Benelux countries.

Can I track the parcel myself?
When the order has been dispatched we will provide you with a tracking number for your shipment, you will be able to log on to the relevant couriers website and see where your parcel is at any time. You can also call the office on 01788 298 795 or email if you need more information.

What If I'm not in at time of delivery?
The driver will leave a note with the depot contact number. Delivery can be arranged for the next day or a later date. The driver will not leave the parcel without a signature however they can leave your parcel with a neighbour if instructed to do so in our notes section at the checkout stage on the website. If your order is for Raised beds or Ponds it will be delivered by Tuffnells carriers and they do not require a signature for the delivery. They will leave your order in a safe place and put a note in your door telling you where it is (typically down the side of the house or around the back)

I'm ordering several items, do they all arrive at the same time?
All items dispatched at the same time will normally be delivered in one delivery. The exceptions are bulk bags of soil or compost which comes in a separate delivery using a different delivery company.

What if my parcel is damaged or I wish to return the goods I have ordered?
Contact our office on 01788 298 795 and we will arrange collection and refund or replacement of faulty or damaged goods free of charge. We have a 'no quibble' policy on damages and will replace immediately once we receive an emailed photo of the damaged item.

If you wish to return an undamaged item for any reason we do charge a collection fee which may vary depending on the number of parcels, each case is different so please call us to arrange. Quickcrop Returns Policy

Great customer service is what we are all about. You will never have to worry about damages, the item not being as expected or simply deciding you don’t want the item and you wish to return it. If you've changed your mind about your purchase, please return it in its original condition with proof of purchase within 35 days of receiving your order and we'll exchange or refund it. We will also refund the standard delivery charge, provided you return the full order. If you're only returning some of the items on your order, then we will only refund the cost of those items. We do not cover the cost of returning the item to our warehouse.

Please note that the goods must be returned in the same condition that they left us so if you have opened your parcel you must ensure it is well enough packed to make it back to us undamaged.

Damaged Goods Returns
If the parcel is visibly damaged upon delivery, Do Not Sign for the Order. After that just email us on and we will do the rest. Obviously it is not always possible to spot a damage in that moment of delivery so don’t worry. As soon as you open your parcel if the goods are not as they should be just email us a photo of the issue clearly explaining the problem. We will be back to you within the day with a solution. This is normally to arrange a collection at a time that suits you and arrange for a replacement to be sent out. We have very few damages so we act very quickly. Please note the Photo is important so that we can claim off our couriers.

A Simple Return
So you have decided on receipt of the goods that you simple don’t want them. Again simple. Just email us at explaining that we want to return your goods clearly stating your name and your order number. We will arrange for collection on an agreed day. Once the goods arrive back in our warehouse and they have been checked as in the condition they left us we will refund you less 15% of the product value. We won’t even charge you for the collection. Now it doesn’t get any better than that.

European Returns
Customers outside of the UK and Ireland are covered by the damages Returns policy above. If you want to return your goods due to the fact that you no longer want it you simply email us on and let us know. You will then need to return your goods to the following address and once it arrives back to us in the condition it left us we will refund you less the 15% restocking charge.
