The worm works is clean and easy to use, inexpensive and easy to maintain. It is faster than normal composting and produces a very high nutrient compost in an environmentally safe way.

The Worm Works Wormery is like a little magic compost factory. This unit produces extremely fertile garden compost plus a potent liquid fertilizer. Just as worms convert organic matter into fertilizer in your garden soil they can also turn your kitchen waste into dark, nutrient rich compost.

The worm works is a complete kit and includes 3 worm trays, a collecting tray, a dispenser tap and a lid. NOTE (The worms are not included with this wormery however they are available on our website. You will need half a kilo to get going). The wormery comes with very clear and comprehensive instructions and a quick look guide printed permanently on the lid.

What do worms eat?
Basically you put the same materials in a wormery as you do on the compost heap. It's a good idea to chop food into small pieces as this speeds up the composting time. It's better to feed little and often rather than filling your wormery in one go.

Here's what you can put in the wormery:

• Fruit and vegetable peelings.
• Tea leaves, bags and coffee grounds.
• Flower and soft leaves (Avoid hard stems).
• Torn up paper and cardboard. Avoid shiny or glossy magazine paper.
• Pasta, bread and cereal.
• Small amounts of leaves, straw or grass cuttings.

Does the wormery need a lot of attention?
If you stick to the right food for the worms and feed little and often as suggested it's really very easy. It does take a few weeks for the worm composter to get going properly so don't be disappointed if not much happens at the beginning.

The worms will become inactive in cold winter temperatures so it's best to move them indoors at this stage. Covering with a blanket in a garage or shed is perfect.

In the summertime keep out of direct sun as the worms will die if allowed to get too hot, partial shade is fine.
