For Control Of The Raspberry Maggot

The Raspberry beetle (Byturus tomentosus) is the most common pest of raspberries and other berry bushes. The raspberry Beetle Trap will attract and kill adult beetles in your garden. They start coming out of the soil in April and are partial to raspberry bushes. The trap has large vanes and a floral attractant and seems like the best raspberry flower to beetles. They flock to it and get trapped, permanently removing them from your garden.

Use in April to May.Set the trap 4-6 weeks before flowering. If you have a second crop of Autumn fruiting berries or later flowering hybrid berries, it is recommended you use a replacement attractant lure. The trap itself is completely re-usable.

Directions:

  • Remove the bucket of the trap and pour in 4-5 cm of water with a little vegetable oil
  • Remove and open the foil sachet
  • Roll up the white packet containing the attractant lure and place it inside the cage.
  • Place the cage now containing the attractant lure, into the circular hole at the top of the trap
  • Hang or stand the trap 1m – 1.6m above the ground near the raspberry plants.
  • Clear the trap of any foliage to ensure visibility.
  • Check the trap weekly
  • Empty and refill with water mix if needed.

Storage:
After use, empty, clean and store the trap out of direct sunlight for re-use the following season. Any unopened lures should be stored in a cool dry place. If adult beetles are still caught after flowering has started, additional control measures may be needed.

Hi Carol We don't currently stock spare attractant but this is an omission on our part. We will be getting some with our next order in the next week or two. I hope this helps. Andrew
