Our Tallest Raised Bed Kit - For Vegetable Gardening
53cm high Premier raised beds are the tallest raised garden beds in the range and look fabulous in any garden, allotment or tunnel. They are made from 3cm thick timber and are exceptionally easy to work on. The increase in height makes them ideal for gardeners in wheelchairs or those who may have difficulty bending. There is nothing that you couldn't possibly grow in up to 53cm of soil (unless you have some super carrots we don't know about), from deep root crops like parsnips, carrots and potatoes to salads and herbs of any kind as well as peas and beans. If you are serious about your vegetable gardening then this 21 inch tall raised vegetable planter is the way to go. These beds can accommodate up to a huge 21 inches of soil, but of course you can fill it up to whatever level suits your needs. That's the best thing about this type of gardening, you can have different soil types and levels in each bed to provide the correct environment for whatever fruit or vegetables you are growing.
We've re-designed our 'Premier' range of raised vegetable beds. We decided to go for a chunkier version of the hugely popular 'Classic' bed made with a much thicker 35mm timber. All our beds are made from timber cut and treated to our specification in our our local sawmills. The preservative used is certified by the soil association as safe for use with organic food crops. Different Sizes Available:
Like all our raised bed kits, we stock the 21 premier in a variety of sizes to better suit your needs. The 53cm high Premier Raised Bed is available in multiple sizes from 91cm x 91cm up to 365cm x 365cm. Please select the required size by clicking the BED SIZE tab above the add to cart button.

4 Great Product
These are a great product and my second order in a couple of years. Very good thick wood and nicely finished. I use longer screws than those provided as I found they cope with the weight of soil much better and I also use steel corner brackets to further strengthen them. Well worth the money and I would recommend

5 Raised Garden Beds - Premier 21in Tall Raised Bed Kits
Very pleased with the quality and price of the 6' x 4' Raised Bed. Reasonably quick delivery considering the Easter weekend came in the middle. Delivered in two handy to carry packs with clear instructions and correct number of screws. Was concerned when I read other reviews that mentioned the need to drill screw holes. DO NOT CONCERN YOURSELF about that! I charged up 4 batteries on two drills and only used one for each, drill and screw-driver. Simples! Thoroughly recommend this product for ease of construction and it feels sturdy. I did it myself and it might have been easier with two people but not really necessary. Job done in just over an hour.

I am not sure additional treatment will make any difference, once the timber has been treated with preservative, it doesn't follow that more will offer enhanced protection. You could use an impermeable plastic sheet between the outside soil and the timber to offer some protection which may help increase the life of the bed. Either way, the preservative used is also designed for use with fence posts which are permanently buried so you should still get a good working life out of the bed. I hope this makes sense. The kit comes with screws and instructions so all you need is an electric xxxx driver for screwing in the corners. The beds don't need to be fixed to the ground as once filled they will go nowhere

3) The posts are about 1/2 longer than the three panels heights. Should the proud part of the post be at the top of the bed or the bottom? See more »

Hi there
You won't need extra drainage in the bed if placed on a hard surface as moisture can still escape around the edges of the bed. The liner is a semi-permeable membrane which allows water to escape while keeping soil particles in.

If the unit is going on concrete it may be best to use a liner. This will allow water go through the base without taking any of the soil with it. The treatment used is a product called Tanalith E which is fine to use when growing food. I wouldn't paint with standard paint as this can leech through the wood in to the soil and can be harmful to crops. That said if you use the liner then it is ok.
