The Interactive Solitary Bee Hive provides a safe shelter for one of nature's frequent garden visitors. The solitary bee is the gardener's friend, beneficial to the pollination of flowers, fruit and vegetables, working and nesting alone.
The hole sizes of this habitat are precisely specified to attract non-swarming bees like the Red Mason Bee, Leafcutter Bee and other solitary bees. These friendly bees are industrious and safe around children and pets. The bees are naturally attracted to holes in wood and the Wildlife World solitary beehive provides a habitat that has become harder to find in modern gardens.
The interactive bee hive is a great tool for educating children and adults about the lifecycle and working pattern of this busy insect while building an appreciation of the importance of conservation and the need to protect our fragile environment. The beehive trays can be carefully separated to view the formation of small cells where the eggs are laid, or indeed where predators have been active.
Place the hive in a sunny position facing between south to south east to catch some morning sun, mounted up to 1.5m above ground level.
The habitat is made from seasoned durable FSC certified timber and no treatments or preservatives are needed to maintain it. During the season protect the full bee tubes with mesh to prevent damage by predatory woodpeckers.
