The Bug Barn is a fun garden home for visiting insects, most of which are beneficial to the well-being of your garden and will actively pollinate fruit, vegetables and flowers, a very important service to provide.
The craggy wooden surfaces with nooks, crannies and crevices provide shelter for insects of all shapes and sizes. You may attract ladybirds, lacewings, solitary bees and possibly over-wintering butterflies too. There are also tubes and drilled bee holes which can be used by pollinating bees such as Mason Bees or Leafcutter bees. It can attract ladybird larvae which feed on aphids, a natural pest control method for the vegetable patch.
The natural split log design has an opening lid which reveals the inner bug barn. You can add your choice of bug nesting material in here such as bark, straw or dried flower stems. The log walls are thick and chunky so are well-insulated & provide a cosy sanctuary for your friendly bugs.
The Bug Barn can be placed in a sheltered garden spot next to lawns, sheltered flower beds, wooded glades or a gloomy corner. Its an absolute delight for young children, dispelling any fears of creepy crawlies while educating them on the importance of natural conservation.
