Romanesco is an Italian variety of fennel. It produces high yields of large rounded bulbs. A great fennel to grow as it has high bolt resistance . Like other varieties of fennel, Romanesco has an anise flavour and can be eaten raw or cooked. The leaves can be chopped up and used in salads. Cooked, it goes perfectly with fish dishes.

Sow in a modular tray, one seed per module approx 1cm deep and plant out a month later. Sow from May until July.

Space plants approximately 35cm (13.78in) apart, with the same distance between rows.
