Building polytunnel or garden irrigation systems is really easy! We have all the parts you need below to build any size or shape system you require. The joint components are simple push fit with no tools required and can be assembled in minutes.
How to build a garden or polytunnel irrigation system
Step 1 - Understanding the system.
Drip irrigation systems use a thinner hose than your standard garden hose. Our systems are designed to begin with a standard Hozelock stye fitting which simply clicks into your garden hose connection. For the drop irrigation system there are only 2 types of pipe, a supply pipe and a dripper pipe. The supply pipe carries the water from your hose connection to dripper lines which are placed in the area you want watered.
For example, if you had 2 raised beds you would use a supply pipe to connect to bed one where you will attach a dripper pipe to run around the beds. You would then attach a length of supply pipe to connect to bed two where you would add your second dripper pipe. Apart from any fittings you may attach to get around bends etc... this is essentially 2 single watering line using the 2 different types of pipe.
Step 2 - Planning the system.
You will find it much easier to draw a plan of your watering system before you start so you can figure out what connectors you might need. You can click on the images of each connector above to see what is use for but in brief please see below:
Hozelock Female connecter - Joins your garden hose 'click' fitting to your 16mm adaptor.
16mm Supply Hose - Supplies the dripper hose with water.
16mm Dripper Hose - Contains dripper valves every 30 cm and irrigates your plants.
16mm adaptor - Screws into Hozelock female and joins it to the 16mm irrigation system supply pipe.
16mm Tee Fitting - Splits a supply or dripper pipe into 2.
16mm Elbow - Creates a 90 degree bend.
16mm Coupler - For joining supply and/or dripper pipe.
16mm Stop End - Closes off the end of an irrigation line.
Baccara Irrigation Controller - Optional controller for programming an automatic watering schedule.
Step 3 - Building the system.
