Good composting requires a balance of carbon and nitrogen to break down material quickly and to produce enough heat to kill off weed seeds and pathogens. If you are composting more kitchen waste than garden waste (very likely in the Winter) you may be short of carbon based materials, which can lead to wet and smelly composting material.
To remedy this you can add wood pellets when adding material to your compost bin. The pellets will break down quickly and help you produce finished compost in a matter of weeks.
These wood pellets are free from any adhesives or preservatives. They are made by compacting pulped timber under very high pressures, which releases the wood's natural resins and binds them together. These pellets are ideal for use with Joraform's compost units.
