N.B. the image features the 3 bay 5ft version of the compost bin, this product is the 2 bay 4ft version. The build is exactly the same, just 2 bays instead of 3 pictured. More detailed photos to follow.
Our 2 bay composters are built around the 'New Zealand Box' method where the compost materials are mixed by moving them from one bay to another. This method mixes the material, adds air and ultimately results in a fine grade finished compost for use in your vegetable garden.
The unit is made up of sturdy 3 inch square (7.5cm) corner posts with timbers permanently fixed to the back and sides of the unit. The centre posts also feature an internal groove which allows the dividing wall to be added and removed easily when moving material from one side to the other. Our composters also include our unique bracket system on the front of the box which allows the retaining boards to be removed for filling and emptying the bin; our system even allows you to remove the bottom row of boards without removing the top!
The corner fixing posts are designed to be buried in the ground but can also be easily modifies to suit placing on a hard surface. Please contact us if this is a requirement for your garden.
Our wooden composters are the most forgiving type of bin as the increased air circulation afforded by the slatted sides means you need not be as careful with your mix as you would with a closed plastic unit.
The Kit features as follows:
5 no. 180cm (6ft) by 17.5cm tall treated timber boards.
16 no. 90cm (3ft) by 17.5cm tall treated timber boards.
6 no. 7.5cm (3inch) square and 5ft high treated timber corner posts.

5 Double Bay Easy Access Timber Composter
Got this baby built in one day. It's higher than I had "imagined". Very sturdy wood so it might outlive me. The removable front slats are great for easy access. Just need to start filling it now.

If you get the mix right in the compost bin then the compost will be ready in roughly 12 weeks using the two bay system. The advantage of the two or three bay system is that you can turn the compost every 3/4 weeks. This speeds up the process an awful lot

Hi
The treatment we use is the new version of 'Tanalith E' which is deemed safe for use on vegetable beds or other food production related timber structures. Use of Tanalith E treated timber is approved for organic growing. I hope this answers your question. Andrew

The boards we use are treated with Tanalith E which is certified by the Soil Association as fine to use when growing food so the same would apply to compost. I grow organically and use this compost system
