‘Seafeed’ Shellfish Compost is made in a 3 year composting process using crab and prawn shell and bark mulch. The resulting fine grade compost is a slow release plant feed which is naturally high in Chitin.

Chitin is used by soil microorganisms to create chitinase which attacks fungal pathogens and helps control disease. Seafeed shellfish compost is particularly beneficial in a greenhouse or polytunnel where fungal disease is a common problem.

Application rates
1 kg of Seafeed Shellfish Compost is sufficient for 5 square meters. Mix the compost into the first 50mm of soil prior to planting.

Due to its very fine consistency Shellfish Compost also makes an excellent seed compost by using a 50/50 Seafeed compost and vermiculite mix. The resulting compost has the added advantage of helping to control damping off disease.

This feels like velvet. Mixed it with my regular compost when potting on some seedlings. Hope they like it as much as I do.

Love this stuff, not used it before but its great for mixing in with potting compost to give seedlings a boost when pricking out and potting on. I like how it’s easy to mix, use as little or as much as required. I will also reuse the bucket it came in when empty, no negatives whatsoever.

Hi. Now here is a peculiar question. I have a bed with brassicas that has a lot of club root fungus in there. I have started an effort to raise the ph to 8 to reduce the fungus activity. From the description of the product and the price I am keen to give it a shot. you know if this product will make my soil more acidic? Which is something I really want to avoid since I am treating it with dolomite to raise the ph. Thanks

Hi Apostolos This product won't have any adverse effect on the PH of your soil. It will add a lot of trace elements to the soil but won't reduce the PH Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi Colin. It sounds like you have plenty of feed in the soil for the crops you are growing. The advantage of the Shellfish is really to feed the soil which you are doing already and to help prevent disease so always good.

If you've changed your mind about your purchase, please return it in its original condition with proof of purchase within 35 days of receiving your order and we'll exchange or refund it. We will also refund the standard delivery charge, provided you return the full order. If you're only returning some of the items on your order, then we will only refund the cost of those items. Damaged Goods Returns
If the parcel is visibly damaged upon delivery, Do Not Sign for the Order. After that just email us on and we will do the rest. This is normally to arrange a collection at a time that suits you and arrange for a replacement to be sent out. We have very few damages so we act very quickly.
