Our Tallest Raised Bed Kit - For Vegetable Gardening

21inch Premier raised beds are the tallest raised garden beds in the range and look fabulous in any garden, allotment or tunnel. They are made from 1.25 inch thick timber and are exceptionally easy to work on. The increase in height makes them ideal for gardeners in wheelchairs or those who may have difficulty bending. There is nothing that you couldn't possibly grow in up to 21" of soil (unless you have some super carrots we don't know about), from deep root crops like parsnips, carrots and potatoes to salads and herbs of any kind as well as peas and beans. If you are serious about your vegetable gardening then this 21in tall raised vegetable planter is the way to go. These beds can accommodate up to a huge 21 inches of soil, but of course you can fill it up to whatever level suits your needs. That's the best thing about this type of gardening, you can have different soil types and levels in each bed to provide the correct environment for whatever fruit or vegetables you are growing.

We've re-designed our 'Premier' range of raised vegetable beds. We decided to go for a chunkier version of the hugely popular 'Classic' bed made with a much thicker 35mm timber. All our beds are made from timber cut and treated to our specification in our our local sawmills. The preservative used is certified by the soil association as safe for use with organic food crops. Click for more info on our raised garden beds.

Different Sizes Available:
Like all our raised bed kits, we stock the 21in premier in a variety of sizes to better suit your needs. Sizes available are; 3 foot square, 4 foot square, 6ft x 3ft, 6ft x 4ft, and the giant 6 foot square garden. Please select the required size by clicking the BED SIZE tab above the add to cart button.

Ordered these last week. Delivery great - packed well. Such good quality and for such a reasonable price. Wood is fully treated and proper solid. Nice long wide screws as well. Really easy to put together with a power tool.

This is a brilliant bed and its handy for me as I don't have to stoop as far down to water and inspect the soil. It was easy to assemble once I borrowed a screwdriver and looks great. The timber used is of an amazing quality as I've had other beds in the past where the wood tended to warp after a few months. There is a great selection of sizes here ( I went with the 6 X 6 ) and am delighted with it as its long enough to grow a multitude of vegetables and is deep enough to even plant potatoes. I'm really looking forward to start growing soon. Delivery was excellent and it came with free jellies. Lovely

A neighbour got some of your premier raised beds last year, so I decided to give it a go this year. I always thought the raised beds looked good next door, but when I got mine I was pleased to see that they were immaculately finished with rounded edges. I went for the 21 inch because I can't bend too far with my back, This is the best raised bed I've come across. very happy with purchase. Peter B.

Very happy. The timber in the beds is good and heavy and goes on the generous side which is refreshing. I do need to say how impressed I was with the service and with advice on how to get started. I am new to vegetable gardening and found this company more than helpful.

Very pleased with the quality and price of the 6' x 4' Raised Bed. Reasonably quick delivery considering the Easter weekend came in the middle. Delivered in two handy to carry packs with clear instructions and correct number of screws. Was concerned when I read other reviews that mentioned the need to drill screw holes. DO NOT CONCERN YOURSELF about that! I charged up 4 batteries on two drills and only used one for each, drill and screw-driver. Simples! Thoroughly recommend this product for ease of construction and it feels sturdy. I did it myself and it might have been easier with two people but not really necessary. Job done in just over an hour.

I have bought quite a few raised beds over the last few years, totally re-organising my vegetable garden. They're wonderful. I've opted for the 21" option. Weeding, which can be soul-killing, is now a very simple job. I've laid mypex and chippings between the beds. And, of course, I don't have to reach down as far. The beds are so easily closed down and covered for the winter months, making them much easier to get ready again in springtime. Despite possibly the wettest winter on record this year, I've noticed that the soil in the raised beds is already moderately dry. These beds will be ready for planting long before the beds in the open ground. The soil warms up much faster in the raised beds too. Overall, I'm totally sold on the concept of raised beds and I'm particularly sold on the the flat packed product I bought from Quickcrop. I can't recommend them highly enough.

These kits are fantastic! The instructions are great and they go together quickly and look fantastic! Need room for more ;) One of them needed a little bit taken off as it was slightly too long but it really wasn't an issue. We even changed configurations as we actually needed one to be 6x3 rather than 6x4 and made the 3x3 a 3x4 and it still all fitted. Can not recommend highly enough

Good sturdy raised beds. You will need a good drill to put them together, but when they are up they look great-an adornment to any garden.
March 21st, 2017
filling my raised bed was the hardest bit, my neighbor gave me some well rotted farm manure, which i layered with topsoil, once that was done,i sat some potatoes, broccoli, cabbage lettuce and onions, and herbs in each corner, i have also put in a few courgettes and i have a feeling things might get fairly crowded when they all start growing, but i am so excited that i could get all these into my raised bed, so far delighted with my purchase.

I bought one of these for my grandmother as shes getting old and can't stoop down to weed any more but always enjoyed growing plants. It took around an hour to get the bed set up from assembly to placing a mypex mat underneath it. Its the perfect height for her and she's delighted as its a lot easier to maintain for her and she can grow some of her favorite potatoes as well as a few other bits and bobs on it.

The delivery of the raised garden bed was extremely prompt and efficient. The timber of the bed is very sturdy. One small disadvantage, when assembling the frame a great deal of strength was necessary to insert the screws. The raised bed is spacious as I have sown cauliflower, cabbage, onions and lettuce in it. Thank you for the jellies, they were a lovely treat! :)

Quality treated wood, sturdy, had no problems with assembly, pleased to see you send a few more screws than what is needed ... as I needed them. I like the little bag of sweets too. Looks like I'm going to get several years of good crops with these :-)

Hi again, I've bought 2 21" and one 14" beds.....3 questions. 1) Three of the end posts for the 21" are not square (about 6 mm wider on two sides. I don't think this will be a problem over the 6' length ..... am I right? 2) I see the pieces are not pre-drilled. Do I need to drill pilot holes or should my Makita be able to drive the screws straight through? 3) The posts are about 1/2 longer than the three panels heights. Should the proud part of the post be at the top of the bed or the bottom?
Answered by Andrew
on May 31st, 2019
Hi Ed. That is a strange one about the posts, I will check the stock here to see if we have an issue. This will be aesthetic only and won't effect the structure of the bed. The boards are not pre drilled but the kit is supplied with good quality self tapping screws which do not require a pilot hole, your Makita will easily be able to screw them in. The posts are 1/2 inch longer to provide some purchase if the bed is to be placed on a slope. You can either sink them below the bed or leave them proud at the top, personally I think they look very well on top. I hope this answers your queries. Andrew

Hi, If I buy the premier raised bed it will go on an area of 15cm deep large (25mm) gravel - would this be OK? Also - would a liner to the inside, vertical sections extend the life of the ed?
Answered by Niall
on May 16th, 2019
Hi Ed The wood is treated so the liner doesn't make a huge difference to how long the beds will last. The main purpose of the liner is if you are putting the beds on a patio etc it will stop the water bringing soil with it when it leaks out. Putting the bed on gravel as you are suggesting is a good idea Niall Quickcrop

If I am putting this on turf would I have to lift the turf first? Or could I put black weed control fabric down then put this on top? I wouldn’t want weeds coming up but wondered what to do.
Answered by Niall
on May 08th, 2019
Hi Emma With a 21 inch high bed no weeds or grass will grow up through this depth of soil so you don't need a liner. Also it is advisable not to have a liner as you want to encourage the worms up through the soil from the garden below. You can of course use Mypex ground cover if you want but there is no major advantage Niall Quickcrop

Hi i'm interested in your 6x3ft kit, i will be putting this onto concrete slabs, and you mentioned to someone that you don't need a liner? as these boards are treated. I would like to know what the treatment is and is it safe, also can these boards be painted over with coloured fence paint which is also a treatment? Thanks.
Answered by Niall
on January 28th, 2019
Hi Barry If the unit is going on concrete it may be best to use a liner. This will allow water go through the base without taking any of the soil with it. The treatment used is a product called Tanalith E which is fine to use when growing food. I wouldn't paint with standard paint as this can leech through the wood in to the soil and can be harmful to crops. That said if you use the liner then it is ok. Niall Quickcrop

What tools do I need for assembly? Are there any spikes like I have seen on other products if being assembled on dirt/grass (do I need spikes anyway or how do they fit?)?
Answered by Niall
on May 16th, 2018
Hi Alice The kit comes with screws and instructions so all you need is an electric screw driver for screwing in the corners. The beds don't need to be fixed to the ground as once filled they will go nowhere Niall Quickcrop

21 inch 4x4 premier raised bed. Can you tell me the top soil and compost to fill it I'm going to use it mostly for Slad leaf and other vegetables.
Answered by Niall

Hi Phil It will take 790 litres of compost to fill that bed. The standard vegetable mix we supply would be best to fill this. Regards Niall Quickcrop

I'm putting a 21inch deep 3x4 onto a patio which I can't mark so i will be using a liner. Now are the liners totally sealed or do they release water in heavy rain ?
Answered by Niall
on March 12th, 2018
Hi Phil The liners are Mypex liners and are made to let the water through but not any of the soil to go with it and also to stop anything being able to grow up through it. If you use a liner that doesn't allow the water through you will end up with waterlogged soil very quickly and nothing will grow in it. Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi, I'm interested in the 6ftx3ft premier raised bed. 21inch high. I note you say that it's ok to grow veg in this on a concrete base. Would this also be deep enough for potatoes? Or would I need to remove the flags beneath?
Answered by Andrew

Good question Denise. You can grow Potatoes in any depth of soil above 12 inches so yes this bed is fine without having to remove any of the flagstones.

Hi, do these raised beds need any type of liner? If I get a 21" high bed and have it on a concrete base, will it hold enough soil to grow vegetables? Many thanks
Answered by Andrew
on March 17th, 2016
You can use these with or without a liner as they are treated, the treatment we use is safe to use with organic food crops. 21'' high is definitely tall enough to grow veg on a concrete base.

am I right, these beds do not have a timber base but are open to the soil? How re timbers held together? Screws, posts or brackets?
Answered by Andrew
on October 12th, 2015
Hi Jim. You are correct, the beds do not have a base an sit directly on the soil. The timbers are held together using screws which are fastened through the timber and into the 3 inch square internal corner posts.

Each of the 6ft x 6ft beds x 21" high take 1,700 litres of soil/compost to fill. So your four beds will take 6,800 litres to fill the beds
