Raised Garden Beds For Growing Vegetables

We've re-designed our 'Premier' range of raised garden beds. We decided to go for a chunkier version of the hugely popular 'Classic' bed made with a much thicker 35mm timber for extra strength if you need it and a longer life. Some peoples raised beds can be subject to heavy knocks from passers by, garden tools or machinery, and vegetable growers may be using theirs for multiple crops in any season. These people require a heavier stronger type of timber which is able to take the wear and tear. Along with being very aesthetically pleasing, these are just some of the reasons Quickcrop designed and manufacture thicker timber growing systems like our "Premier" range. Like all our raised beds, the premier range is very easy to assemble and comes with all the screw necessary and full instructions. Click here for more information on raised beds.

Choose Your Size:
We supply these raised garden beds in flatpack kits in the following sizes: 4ft x 4ft, 6ft x  3ft, 6ft x 4ft and the massive 6ft x 6ft. You can choose the required size to fit your garden by clicking the BED SIZE tab above the add to cart button.

Longer Life Raised Vegetable Beds From Quickcrop

All our beds are made from timber cut and treated to our specification in our our local sawmills. The preservative used is certified by the soil association safe for use with organic food crops and does not horribly discolour or leave a nasty smell or feel on the wood. A lot of other raised bed manufacturers treat their wood and then cut it to size in an effort to save time and costs. This leads to untreated ends on the timber that suck up moisture and become prone to rot and warp. Our timber is pressure treated after it has been cut to size, leaving no part of the raised bed kit untreated. This helps them last for many years of intensive vegetable gardening.

Great quality timber - much more robust and better finished than the typical garden centre offerings. Deducted one star because there were no screws or instructions included. Not a huge deal as its pretty obvious and I had plenty of screws in the toolbox.

The beds are great, arrived promptly. Easy enough to put together once you have an electric screwdriver (you do need this).

This bed is easy to assemble providing you have an electric screwdriver. I can't imagine using a manual screw driver to do it however as the wood is so thick. This speaks well of the quality of timber used in the construction however. I'll be primarily using this bed in conjunction with my 14 inch bed as a salad bed. The delivery time was very impressive as well.

A simple structure , easy to assemble , no screws included and quite long screws are required, I had them to hand, but I would think many people would not, a trip to the local DIY for screws would be a frustration .

I got this raised bed because I really liked the look of the picture above, I thought it looked fantastic against the stones. I have it outside now near the shed. I hope to see something coming up in the next week or so. A really sturdy little raised bed. thanks!!

I haven't made the bed yet on account of bad weather but it looks good with clear instructions. Delivery was 3 days even though I ordered late in the evening. Very good, looking forward to growing when the weather improves!

Does exactly what is says on the tin. Very happy with the quality and thickness of the timber for the price. The kids loved the free jellies, a nice touch, I will be back to purchase more in the futire.

Is the 9 inch raised beds deep enough for salad crops - lettuce, spring onions, radish? The rest of my raised beds are deeper which I use for vegetables but i'm wondering if I can get away with a lower bed for some veg/salad.

Hi Elizabeth A 9 inch bed is perfect for salads, spring onions, radish and to be honest most veg except for root crops (potatoes, carrots, parsnips etc) Niall Quickcrop

Hi I was wondering how many 50l bags of soil would you need for the 12x4 bed
Answered by Niall
on June 10th, 2019
Hi Sophie A bed of this size will take 950 litres of soil which i am afraid to say is 19 of the 50 litre bags. You would be much better off getting one of the tonne bulk bags to fill this bed Niall Quickcrop

Hi We have an allotment and are looking to do raised beds on two sections measuring 375cm x 140cm. Please advise if we can do two raised beds of 12ft x 4 ft or need 4 beds of 6 x 4 ft.
Answered by Niall
on May 09th, 2019
Hi Kate The 12ft beds we supply are typically 2 of the 6fts just fixed together. However you can have the centre board covered with soil so it looks like 1 long bed. The reason you need to centre fixings on a 12ft is down to the fact that the wood in the centre will bow with the weight of the soil if it is not supported Niall Quickcrop

I see from one of your replies that screws are included. Yet in a couple of the reviews customers have complained that screws were NOT included. Please clarify.
Answered by Niall
on April 25th, 2019
Hi Jack Screws and instructions are part of the kit. You might have read older reviews where screws had come off in transit but where this happened we always send them on. Be assured if you order a raised bed it will come with screws and instructions as we have improved our packaging so they don't fall out. Niall Quickcrop

Hi, I read your reply to Andy's question below but I'm still not clear about the longer bed options. If I order a "12ft x 3ft" will I get enough boards for two 6ft beds that I could make up separately or is it one long bed with a join halfway along? And the "8ft x 3ft"? Many thanks.
Answered by Megan
on February 13th, 2019
Hi Simon - for 12' beds they are supplied as two 6' boards for either side and we can supply you with enough corner posts to set these up separate or together. For 8' beds this will be one 8' board. If you need more info please feel free to contact me directly at meg.quickcrop@gmail.com. Thanks, Meg - Quickcrop

Hi, with regards to bed size you show 12ft x 4ft @ £119.95, yet you say you not deliver longer than 6ft. Presumably made up of x2 6ft x4ft? If so it works out cheaper if I buy 12ft x 4ft rather than x2 6ft x 4ft which works out at £139.90 yes? Cheers Andy
Answered by Niall
on November 05th, 2018
Hi Andy You are correct on both fronts. The 12ft x 4ft should show as slightly cheaper than if you buy the bed in two 6ft sections but the pricing in wrong on the site it should be £129.95 for the 12ft x 4ft. I will leave it at that price for a day or two before adjusting if you want to avail of the mistake we have made on the pricing Regards Niall Quickcrop

Do the boards come with the fixing holes already drilled?
Answered by Niall

Hi Kevin No they are not pre-drilled however it is very easy to drive the screws through the wood as it is a treated soft wood. Comes with the instructions and screws provided. Regards Niall Quickcrop

I'm thinking of buying a couple of raised bed kits, together with some Grow Grid mats, but I find that the sizes don't appear to match! The beds are shown in Imperial, but mats all seem to be 1.5m wide. You also suggest that it's no a good idea to cut the mats, so how do I get around this problem? I suppose I could buy the mats and build my own beds.
Answered by Andrew
on November 07th, 2017
Hi Tecwyn The mats are 1.5 wide and our standard beds are 1.2 wide. We can make a custom size up for you if you wish to build a 1.5 bed, just let me know and I will put together a quote for you. If you would like to email us directly on quickcrop@gmail.com I will attend to this straight away. Andrew

Do they need "spikes" to fix them in the ground?
Answered by Andrew
on May 31st, 2016
Hi Jill. The beds don't need spikes to fix them into the ground as the weight of soil in the raised bed will hold them in place.
