Organic Horse Manure

Gee Up 12kg bags of organically certified horse manure for the vegetable garden. There is nothing added to the manure, it is composted over a long period of time reaching 60+ degrees C. The extra heat used during composting kills weed seeds and leaves the horse manure completely odourless with a great texture.

Gee Up Horse manure contains a full range of the nutrients required for healthier soil. It produces Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potash as it breaks down and also adds humus to the soil. It is also Ph. Neutral 7.0, which means that it is suitable for all plants.

Bag Size:

12kg weight and 25 litres in volume

I put this on my autumn raspberries at this time of year, and my rhubarb also gets lucky with it. I love that it is so easy to spread from the bags. I don't have a trustworthy source of manure locally but feel that this is better anyway. Thanks for stocking it as my local stockist was very hit and miss, and having it delivered to the house is great.

I bought the Gee Up composted horse manure to revitalise the soil in the vegetable beds in my polytunnel. I am extremely pleased with the quality of the product which is a lovely rich and crumbly texture and is full of worms! It is worth mentioning that there is no odour from the compost and that I also like the very manaegable size of the 12 kilo bags. I will definitely but this product again

1) I note you say that the Gee Up horse manure is organically certified - but you don't say by whom - Soil Association? Organic Farmers and Growers? Are the certifiers on the uk gov list of "Approved UK organic control bodies"? 2) You also say that it is unlikely to contains antibiotics. The more current problem seems to be aminopyralids, used on the hay etc fed to horses and the stables themselves often don't seem to be aware of thi or of the damage to crops that can result once it has passed through the horses and on to our soil. Are you able to check this yourselves?

Hi Marcus The Gee Up product is certified by the Organic Trust in Ireland as it is an Irish product. I am afraid i can't comment on the aminopryalids issue as it doesn't seem to be as big an issue in Ireland as it is in the UK. I will get in touch with Gee Up and see if we can get some more detailed information on this issue Niall Quickcrop

Hi, a follow up questions: how much of Gee up or Envirogrind do I need to replenish nutrient for a 4ft sq bed? How are Gee up or Envirogrind different from the seaweed fertilizer/compost etc?
Answered by Niall
on May 08th, 2019
Hi Julie 1 x bag of either the Gee up or the Envirogrind will be plenty for that size of bed. The Seaweed fertilizer is a slow release product that you put on the soil surface and is more for bringing on plants already in ground. The Gee up and Envirogrind are for feeding the soil before planting. Niall Quickcrop

Hi, I have a raised bed from last year but hasn't been prepared yet. What step do I need to do to prepare it and what to put in? I did carrot, pak choi before in the bed. I am hoping to plant some onion, sweetcorn and trying doing tomato. Thanks.

Hi Julie Once the bed has been previously filled with soil all you will need to do is add nutrients. Gee up is very good for this or alternatively Envirogrind which is also on our site Regards Niall Quickcrop

hi, I'm new to gardening and will be buying some gee-up manure. Could you tell me how long the manure in the bag, once opened, will last and where would be an appropriate place to store the bag? thank you
Answered by Andrew

Hi Ian. To be honest it doesn't really go off as the compost process has finished once it is in the bag so i guess use within 18/24 months at the latest. It will store fine outdoors. Once you don't leave it in a spot that is to hot it will be fine.

Hi, I see its organically certified am I to presume that the horses that made it are free from antibiotics ect and the feed that they graze on are guaranteed to be free from herbicides ect. There seems to be a problem with manure and it's true organic credentials causing crop problems. I would really like to find a product which I can be 100% assured is fine for organic growing. Thanks

Hi Ash. I have checked with the manufacturer on this and they assure me that the product has full organic certification. This will mean that the grass they graze is totally free of Herbicides etc but even in an organic system animals are allowed an amount of Antibiotics so there could be trace elements but any organic system will only do this with a derogation from the Organic trust which is difficult to obtain.

how soon can i plant after putting the manure down
Answered by Andrew
on April 05th, 2017
Hi Thelma. The Gee Up manure is very well composted so you can plant pretty much straight away. I would advise with manure to add it to the surface of the soil rather than dig in, that way if there are any over rich particles they won't do any harm. The worms and other soil life will incorporate the material into the soil over tme.

How much soil does 40L treat?, novice gardner
Answered by Andrew
on September 29th, 2016
Hi Christine. 40 litres of Manure would normally be the right amount to dig in to a bed of 6ft x 3ft to build up the fertility in it however it depends on the type of crops you are going to put in the bed. Courgettes, Tomatoes etc will take a lot more whereas carrots, parsnips, salads etc a lot less.
