For Harvesting Grain Crops Or Cutting Grass

The Chillington Sickle is another great tool made by the famous 'Chillington' traditional tool brand. The sickle is one of the most ancient of tools used for cutting grain crops or grass to feed livestock.

In the modern environment the sickle is a very handy tool for light hedge trimming or for clearing grass around the base of vulnerable plants. It's a light and easy to transport tool so very perfect for bringing down the allotment for light clearing instead of lugging round a heavy petrol strimmer. It really is a great tool to have around and will be used far more than you'd think!

This sickle has the more popular serrated edge and makes short work of weeding or harvesting.

Dimensions: Blade length 12"

This is a great sickle and I'd accept nothing less from the Chillington brand. Does a great job but be careful as its incredibly sharp.

Loving this tool, light and easy to handle

When it arrived it was smaller and lighter than I imagined so I was automatically sceptical and almost wished I had not bought it ... BUT, that was until I started using it. That small serrated blade is a shark! It does not take long to settle into a rhythmic swing that slices through all you need to cut back with ease. With its lightness it does not get tiring to use either. Don't be fooled by its small size and flimsy look. This is a powerful 'gets the work done' hard wearing tool. Don't look at it, just use it, and be thrilled at its excellent value for money and usefulness.

Nothing better than going back to your harvest roots than going out with a quality sickle and showing nature who's the boss. This sickle is fantastic and really dices and slices. I'd nearly use it for everything but the wife refuses to eat the sandwiches I make with it. Arrived in the nick of time.

Would this work to cut areas of grass that are left to grow then cut in the Autumn only? Grass isn't upright and is dense.

Hi Sara These Sickles are great however for heavy grass i would suggest the Grass Slasher and sharpen it well. This will make light work of what you need to do Niall Quickcrop

Hello. I need to clear my garden's long weed here and there about 10% of the one third of an acre. I am in my late fifty and not tall (5'4), not strong female. Which would you recommend for me, Grass slasher or sickle? Also after cutting I would like to dig the weeds roots. Do you recommend any tool for this purpose. Regards

Thank you for your question Akiko. The Grass Slasher is more of a long term tool if you think you are going to be doing this work every year it is the better option. That said the Sickle is very effective and we sell a huge amount of them and they are always well received. Afterwards the correct tool to use to dig the roots is one of our Chillington Heavy duty Hoes.

Quickcrop Returns Policy

Great customer service is what we are all about. You will never have to worry about damages, the item not being as expected or simply deciding you don’t want the item and you wish to return it. If you've changed your mind about your purchase, please return it in its original condition with proof of purchase within 35 days of receiving your order and we'll exchange or refund it. We will also refund the standard delivery charge, provided you return the full order. If you're only returning some of the items on your order, then we will only refund the cost of those items. We do not cover the cost of returning the item to our warehouse.

Please note that the goods must be returned in the same condition that they left us in so if you have opened your parcel you must ensure it is well enough packed to arrive undamaged.

Damaged Goods Returns
If the parcel is visibly damaged upon delivery, Do Not Sign for the Order. After that just email us on and we will do the rest. Obviously it is not always possible to spot a damage in that moment of delivery so don’t worry. As soon as you open your parcel if the goods are not as they should be just email us a photo of the issue clearly explaining the problem. We will be back to you within the day with a solution. This is normally to arrange a collection at a time that suits you and arrange for a replacement to be sent out. We have very few damages so we act very quickly. Please note the photo is important so we can show the damage to our couriers and be refunded for the delivery cost.

A Simple Return
So you have decided on receipt of the goods that you simply don’t want them. Just email us at explaining that you want to return your goods stating your name and your order number. It is your responsibility to return the goods to us but once they have been received and checked at our end we will issue the refund minus the original delivery charge.
