Important Delivery Information - Please Read

Delivery is Kerbside delivery. We don't guarantee the bag can be left within the boundry of your property. If we can't access your driveway the bag will be left at the closest point possible.

The soil is delivered in cubic metre bags placed on a wooden pallet. The soil can only go as close to your site as the hand operated pallet truck allows. The truck is not equipped with a grab so bags cannot be lifted over walls or hedges.

While the delivery driver will do his best to get the bag as close as he can to your property he is unable to move the bag over kerbs, up an incline or on loose gravel surfaces. Remember the bag is a tonne weight and once off the truck is moved by the effort of the driver alone. We use large trucks for these deliveries so if your lane or road is narrow please don't order as refusal of delivery comes at a cost

If you refuse delivery there is a charge of £55 to cover some of the cost of transport out and back.

If you are unsure about access to your property please call us beforehand to discuss.

For more detailed information on Soil Deliveries please read section 5 in our terms and conditions section here.

The first bag of vegetable soil I received recently was coarse containing many stones some the size of small potatoes. The two bags of soil received today were so much better looking more like the photograph and there seems to be more of it. Now being able to compare my two orders I am not happy wth the quality of the first delivery of soil.

Wow... Just been delivered and spent all morning barrowing it into my raised beds - beautiful stuff ... reminds me of the "graded grains make finer flour" advert from Homepride years ago ... Well done

hi ive just filled my raised bed with this and watered it prior to putting veg plants in but the soil has gone very hard and caked on top. Ive raked it but I seem to have made matters worse. Advice please!

Hi Penny. It sounds like you may have saturated the soil and that it has them dried in the sun which will form a crust. I would break up the surface with a fork or rake. Andrew

Hi - I bought two of your 4x6 raised beds (fantastic by the way!), and now wish I had bought your Veg Soil Mix to put in it but unfortunately bought another leading brand Veg Soil and mixed it 50/50 with their compost. Nothing has grown at all, very yellow sick plants, whereas ones planted in ordinary compost in pots have thrived. I'm told I have 'overwhelmed' the soil with organic matter. How do I fix this? Do I need to empty the beds completely :( and just start again with your Veg Soil Mix?
Answered by Andrew
on June 29th, 2020
Hi Jane. I am delighted you found our raised beds good. I don't know about overwhelming the soil with organic matter, I don't think this will be the case. I would say it is more likely that either there is a weedkiller present in the soil or it has too much woody material in it (which will use up available nitrogen as it rots down). What consistency was the soil you used? Andrew

Hi Received today. Excellent delivery. Is it meant to contain lots of bits of sticks? Also is this soil certified
Answered by Niall
on May 01st, 2020
Hi Rosanna There is no such thing as certified organic bulk veg mix as the soil that is mixed in can not be certified so in short no. The sticks and small stones tend to make their way to the top of the bags when in transit but it is important not to have to fine of a mix or it will cake in the beds and not allow air through Niall Quickcrop

Hello, I am thinking about buying your raised bed which can hold 264 Litres of soil. Can you please inform me about a great compost/ soil mixture that would be great for mixed vegetables. Thanks in advance
Answered by Niall
on June 18th, 2019
Hi Ahmed For a bed of this size you would be best to just add 4 x bag of standard compost which can be picked up anywhere and 1 x bag of Envirogrind. This will give you a great medium for your vegetable growing Niall Quickcrop

Hi Lyn You can of course mix it to the Vegetable mix but don't put in more than about a third Envirogrind to two thirds veg mix Regards Niall Quickcrop

Hi I only need 350 ltrs of vegetable compost do you do that sort of amount . thanks
Answered by Andrew

Hi Carol I am afraid we don't do bulk soil in amounts less than 850 litres. The only other option would be to order 50L compost bags (7) to make up the 350. Let me know of you need help making a mix. Andrew

Hello. Size of delivery lorry is an issue in this remote part of Dartmoor. I am assuming this will be by a grab truck? If so, it should be OK as long as it is no bigger than a Travis Perkins DAF LF which gets to me OK despite it being a bit of a squeeze. Many thanks
Answered by Andrew
on January 21st, 2016
Hi Paul. Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately our delivery trucks are quite large and they don't have grabs. The bag of soil comes off the back of a truck on a tail lift and tight access roads can be a problem.

If I was to fill some raised beds would it be better to fill them with the Soil Mix or the compost mix -or half and half - I will be growing lots of different veg
Answered by Andrew
on December 17th, 2015
Hi Phil. I would use the half and half and add either envirogrind or seafeed seaweed and manure pellets at planting time depending on the crop.

If I get the soil this side of the winter will the winter rain wash out all the goodness? Is the 10% including the soil as well as the raised beds?
Answered by Andrew
on September 24th, 2015
Hi Phil. Thank you for your question. The 10% discount applies to the raised beds only as we are running a raised bed sale. With regard to rain issues I would always cover bare soil with a protective mulch or layer of mypex to prevent nutrients being washed out. It can be handy to get beds placed in Autumn so you are ready for the growing year in Spring but I guess that's a personal choice, we won't be running a 10% sale in Spring either!
